Whether it's Father's Day or Valentine's Day, there are many occasions to draw your customers to your shop. To show you how easy it can be, we've put together a list of some "special days" for each month along with potential promotions for each date. These are only a few examples, but with a little creativity, your business can make the most of them!

January:

16th - Blue Monday - You have the power to put a positive spin on the bleakest day of the year and give your business a boost in the post- holiday slump with a well designed promotion. Perhaps try an sms or email campaign like "Brighten up Blue Monday with 20% off your service- 16 January only!". It has the potential, don't you think?

24th - National Compliment Day - You can also make a positive day even better with the right promotion. For example, "Let's be kind to each other: compliment another customer's haircut on this day, and get your service half-off!" or simply write "Nothing gets more compliments than a new hairstyle. Book a special appointment on National Compliment Day!".  Creating a great vibe inside your shop will have your customers smiling whenever they think about your business.

February:

3rd - National Wear Red Day - It's pretty simple. Offer clients wearing red clothing or even a red accessory (yes, another) discount.

14th - Valentine's Day - With proper planning, you can generate a lot of business around this holiday, both before and after the big day. We all know it's a great day to visit your establishment to freshen up or get special styling before a date. However, you can also try promoting more long term styles (color, cuts) in the days preceding with special discounts.... or perhaps a special promotion after Valentine's day for personal TLC days. After all, why should couples have all of the fun?

March:

8th - National Ginger Day - Show your appreciation for the rarest hair colour by offering special discounts to natural redheads. Or invite others to the party by offering discounts to anyone dyeing their hair red.

17th - St. Patrick's Day - serving a bottle of some good beer on that day for everyone who's not driving could be a fun idea.

April:

11th - National Barbershop Quartet Day - There are plenty of occasions to celebrate in April - starting with April Fool’s Day, through No Housework Day up to the Earth Day, but there are two particular holidays you may want celebrate. Barbershop Quartet Day is surely a moment to celebrate this great tradition. Although those acapellas group are no longer as popular as a century ago, the idea of being serenaded during their appointment is sure to attract curious clients!

30th - National Hairstylist Appreciation Day - Another great occasion  to celebrate in April comes at the end of the month, but is a holiday worth waiting for. You work your hardest all year round to provide your clients with the best service. Encourage your clients to appreciate your work by simply getting a new haircut that day.... and giving you tons of compliments.

May:

4th - Star Wars Day (May the 4th) - Let your inner geek be your guide with John Williams' music like "Imperial March" and gadgets from the movie to bring people to the shop! Also, all the customers with the franchise accessories could get a discount on your services. Other ideas could be battling tip jars- clients can vote for their favourite character or film by tipping for that result. The concept with the largest tip wins at the end of the day. Perhaps an R2D2 special can be used- reserve two bookings that day (by bringing a friend or adding a service), discount both bookings. 19th - A Good Deed Day - give your customers an example of kindness by offering them a discount on their services,  and you can expect a fully-booked calendar on that day. Just remind them to pay the kindness forward!

June:

1st - International Children's Day AND National Say Something Nice Day - Can you think of a better combo for holidays? You can attract some clients by promoting offering discounts on kid's cuts. More importantly, complimenting the children's behaviour and style can boost a young person's confidence and stir up pride in their parents. It's a beautiful way of making a genuine connection and secure loyalty from your clients.

18th - National Father’s Day - That’s pretty straight forward - there is a long tradition of father-son activities in barbershops. Encourage your clients to visit your shop with their fathers or with their sons (why not both!) for this special occasion and help create a memorable bonding moment.

July:

1st - Dog Day - posting some photos of dogs getting fabulous haircuts via your social media channels can go viral.

27th - Scotch Day - much like St. Patrick's Day, how about to offer your non-driving clients a glass of Scotch?

August:

16th - National Tell a Joke Day - You must hear a lot of jokes working as a barber. But you might also wanna learn a few, to cheer up your clients when you feel they need it. So here’s a day especially for you - the National Tell a Joke Day. Charge your customers less if they can make you laugh. They will and you will have a great day, trust us on that!

21st - National Senior Citizen Day - Encourage senior citizens to visit your shop with a discount for them on this day. Allow extra time for these appointments so they can really talk to you and demonstrate how pleasant your shop is... and you might find your slow periods on other days quickly fill up. Besides, who knows what exciting stories you'll hear!

September:

8th - Dreamer Day - Make dreams come true! It's a great opportunity to organise a charity action, to donate money for some noble goal, and easily get a good connotation to your brand. You might also run a "find your dream cut" campaign, either discounting services that day or by offering special consultations for people looking to make a big change.

22nd - Day Without a Car - A very simple promotion: anyone who comes to your salon by bike or by public transportation will get a discount. Simple, catchy and - most of all - reduces air pollution!

October:

18th - National No Beard Day - Here’s a day with LOTS of possibilities. Perhaps you'd like to offer a discount for customers who want a clean shave. Perhaps it would be more fun to offer a contradictory promotion and offer a discount to people who want to pimp their beard. Or, maybe you could make a battle of the beards where people vote for their choice of facial hair (through tipping, of course). The choice is yours, but the result is bound to be fun regardless!

31st - Halloween - Want to get more bookings AND visibility? Offer discounts to clients in costume.... and post the results on your social media channels. Don't forget to have a bit of fun in the shop with some theme music, decorations, special treats... and perhaps a costume of your own!

November:

9th - Day of Quality - update your gallery on social media channels (Instagram, Facebook, Booksy) to assure customers that you are the best barber around. Not only will your site look better, it might attract the attention of new potential clients.

17th - Student Day - Give all students (after showing their active student card) a discount for all the services. Students tend to have a lower budget, so you'll undoubtedly keep busy all day.

December:

Third Friday of December - National Ugly Christmas Sweater Day - On this date - the uglier the better! (For sweaters, that is.) It's time to locate the most monstrous holiday sweater you can find, which will only make the hair look so much better by comparison. Make a gallery of ugly sweaters and fresh cuts and show it to your customers on the last holiday that year, which is…

21st - National Humbug Day - Wait, what? Yes, you read that right! We know that by now everyone is feeling the pre-holiday stress and is tired of the same cheesy holiday tunes playing throughout the shops. So invite them in during the National Humbug Day, a holiday from the holidays. Let them unwind, release their frustrations (what’s better way of relaxing than getting a fresh cut at your shop?), and show them the gallery from the Ugly Christmas Sweater Day. Then offer them the discount their heavily taxed wallets so desperately needs.

Now, after we have given you some examples of less conventional days to connect with clients throughout the year, let us show you how you can reach them via BooksyBiz. It's easier than you think!
