Meet Lucy Horne from Stags Barbers. Read her story and discover why she recommends Booksy to other barbers.

What made you pursue a career as a Barber?

After completing my A- levels and unsure of a career my parents encouraged me to go to college to learn a trade to" fall back on". I did level 1&2 hairdressing, and the optional level 2 barbering course. It was then I found my passion. I was picked by the college to work for a new barber shop searching for employees. I've never looked back!

What do you feel is the most important part of your business?

Building a good relationship with the customers. Making them feel welcome and develop a good rapport with the customers which in turn will retain their loyally.

Have you got any advice for people who want to start their work in your industry?

Do it! Quite literally the best and most satisfying job in the world.

What is your key to success?

Having a good relationship with the customers. Stay humble and do the job for love... not greed. Be the best you can be and always push yourself beyond your comfort zone. Don't let your work go stale. Stay up to date!

What made you decide to start using Booksy?

Starting a business on my own.. struggling to find time to answer calls and reply to messages. I came across booksy in a Barber magazine. I was instantly impressed and it had such a positive impact almost straight away!

How did Booksy change your business? What improvements can you see?

Customers have all expressed their positive views on it and find it so easy to use. The fact that they have the ability to make, reschedule & cancel their own bookings.. saves me time being a receptionist and get to doing what I love best.. cutting hair!!

What is your favourite Booksy feature?

The ability to adapt the service time, name, price accordingly. Both the booksy and booksy app are so easy to use.

What do your clients think of Booksy?

I have had nothing but compliments and positive feedback from my clients! The fashion seems to be changing and guys are becoming more organised!! People value the little free time they do have, and therefore like the benefit of booking rather than waiting hours for a walk in.

What are your goals for the future?

I hope the business will carry on growing and in the very near future, fill the chair for a 3rd barber. I currently work by appointments 4 days a week.. but am hoping to work by bookings only in order to eliminate long waiting times. Customer happiness and satisfaction is highly important. Retaining a good reputation is paramount!
