Podcasts have been rapidly growing in popularity. According to 2021 podcast statistics from Edison Research and Triton Digital,78% of Americans are now familiar with podcasting, and listeners across the board have increased 29.5% in 3 years. Almost half (41%) of listeners tune into podcasts on a monthly basis — a figure that’s grown 61.5% in just 3 years.
The fact that more and more people are listening to podcasts shouldn’t come as a surprise. For starters, they’re incredibly convenient to consume. Unlike written text or video, podcasts don’t require you to focus your eyes on a screen to take in the information. Since they’re 100% audio material, you can listen to podcasts while doing other things — such as driving to your salon, completing chores, or taking a leisurely stroll on your day off.
The rise of smart speakers also contributes to podcast’s popularity, and given the increasing prevalence of the Internet of Things, this trend isn’t likely to slow down anytime soon.
All that being said, the podcast space is becoming crowded, and these days, there’s a podcast for just any topic — including hair, beauty, and wellness.
