To determine what makes a barber stand out, we looked at the Instagram profiles of the best and highest-rated barbers. What we found from analyzing the customer reviews on the profiles of these artists is that several factors play a role. Make sure to take a quick peek at these and become a better artist in your industry!
This doesn’t necessarily relate to the haircuts you give, rather to the delivery of your service, your timeliness, quality, flexibility, enthusiasm (this is a big one!), professionalism, schedule, and marketing. We know this is a lot to take in, but keep in mind, this is based on the profiles of the 6 best barber artists of 2017.
Do not take anything for granted. Just because you are a barber, your customers will not automatically assume that you have the necessary skills to give the haircut they are looking for. First and foremost, they will judge your skills based on your haircut, unfortunately or fortunately for you.
This is another important factor. Be personable, show hospitality, and do not forget your customer service skills. Also, be friendly with kids.
Customers like to be entertained when they are getting a haircut. Show interest in your customer’s matters, make your customers feel comfortable and ensure a fun and relaxed atmosphere.
Show your customers that you care about them. Value quality over quantity to keep your customers satisfied and pay attention to details.
There is a reason you went through barber school. If giving haircuts is not something you enjoy, then you are in the wrong field. If you forget, remind yourself why you went into this field and show a positive attitude toward the work that you do.
Don’t be afraid to display your awards and certifications. Based on the reviews we have analyzed, customers like knowing the qualifications of their barber. The more the better.
Accept feedback enthusiastically and ask your customer for it – it is meant to help you improve in areas where there is still room for improvement. Take advantage of this.
Always show respect toward your customers and stay flexible when needed.
This is something we have already mentioned, but what we can’t stress enough: keep your shop clean to attract customers.
Customers seem to value good communication skills, and everyone is capable of those as long as you try hard enough.
