Cosmetology Trends, Natural Beauty and Smart Aging

In recent months, the body positivity movement has gained significant momentum, and guess what? It's here to stay in 2024. It goes beyond self-acceptance - it's a stand against the pursuit of unrealistic beauty standards. This movement advocates for the acceptance of all body types, irrespective of their size and appearance.

A crucial aspect of the body-positive trend is the emergence of smart aging, promoting 'wise aging' and the acceptance of the passage of time. However, this doesn't imply neglecting self-care. Quite the opposite! Understanding the aging processes our bodies undergo enables us to prepare for them effectively. Doctor of Medicine, Izabela Załęska captures what we can expect in aesthetic medicine in the upcoming months:

“Beauty trends act as reliable indicators, yet they shouldn't dominate our approach. Our focus is on tailoring treatments to individuals, not blindly following trends. In my perspective, there's a global shift towards embracing natural outcomes and treatment wisdom. We're steering away from concepts like 'patient alienization' or the 'Instagram face,' advocating for subtle enhancements in reputable and secure settings.

We've reached a stage where we acknowledge that tissue fillers are the finishing touch, and toxins alone can't address aesthetic concerns without proper skin preparation and care during treatment. In my vision for 2024, I see a year dedicated to tissue fibroplasia and comprehensive skin care. Think ligament therapy, skin stimulation, or regular bio revitalization, all rooted in the understanding that aging is a dynamic process unfolding each day.

I want to highlight the growing trend of microcurrent therapy, emphasizing the importance of tailoring treatments to meet each patient's unique needs, even extending to personalized home care products. Let's make 2024 the year of thoughtful care, embracing the trends of healthy skin and smart approach to anti-aging.”

Latest Trends in Lash Styling

Although lash extensions and disposable lashes have been known for quite some time now, they have not lost their popularity at all over time. The lash industry is developing rapidly all the time, strengthening its position in the market of popular beauty services. New products and application alternatives are being developed every year. Just like in any other field of the beauty industry, we also see quite a peak in changing trends in eyelash styling. Experienced eyelash stylist, Kasia Szelągowska talks about how to strikingly emphasize clients' looks in the coming months:

"The eyelash industry is marked by a unique phenomenon—trends tend to emerge several years after the introduction of a novelty. It's a fascinating cycle: a new product hits the market, initially met with disinterest or even dismissal, and then, after 2-3 years, it experiences a sudden surge in popularity. To predict what 2024 holds, one would need to delve into the past and identify what trends are yet to blossom. Nevertheless, I believe that current trends, such as the Wet Look Lashes and Kim’s Effect, will continue to dominate. I also anticipate the growth of avant-garde styles, like uneven, colorful, and more artistic lashes, currently in their infancy. Let's keep an eye out for what the new year unveils!”

The Best Cuts and Hair Trends for 2024

Diversity has been the reigning theme in the world of hairstyling for years. It's no wonder that the upcoming year will continue to introduce fresh haircut options crafted to meet the unique needs of individual clients. Pedro Plastic, a renowned hairstylist from the UK, envisions the trendy hair treatments for 2024 in the following way:

The Trendy Shag Haircut

The shag haircut is a versatile style that has been around since the 1970s, and it’s still going strong in 2024. With its choppy layers and texture, the shaggy haircut is loved for its effortless effect and grungy vibe. It’s a great way to add some edge to your look and can be customized to suit different face shapes and hair types.

Rich and Natural Textured Hair

Textured hair is expected to be a big trend in 2024. It’s all about embracing your natural hair texture and enhancing it with the right products and styling techniques.

Luscious Red Hair

Red hair was one of the biggest hair color trends of 2023, and it’s expected to continue its reign in 2024. From cowboy copper to cherry cola red, there are plenty of shades to choose from, a perfect example is the trendsetter celebrity, Dua Lipa,  who has changed her style recently and we're here for it!

The Fashionable Blonde Trend for 2024

Despite the broad spectrum of color trends, various shades of blonde are set to remain in vogue in the coming year. Soft blonde coloring, as highlighted by Spanish hair stylist Alba Bosch, not only imparts facial brightness but also achieves a natural and effortlessly chic effect:

"For 2024 the trend of blondes and balayage is to create more and more blondes from above, the reserves are increasing and baby lights are becoming more and more fashionable, although they have more maintenance, we get to leave the blond from the root, we also continue to maintain the base color without altering to get cooler blondes without much maintenance, the golden blondes not so white will be trendy and it is also healthier for the hair, the ideal is to get a little warmer colors that highlight the qualities and skin tone of the client."

In the dynamic landscape of cosmetic services, male grooming stands out as a leading trend. So it's no surprise that the approaching year promises a rejuvenating touch to men's haircuts and beard trims. From timeless classics to avant-garde styles, there's something for every man in these trends. British barber, Alan Beak, shares his insights on the most anticipated services that will dominate barbershops in the upcoming months:

Hairstyles change as quickly as seasons do in our shop. We certainly have had more and more guys growing their hair out and having looser more flowing styles. I believe this to be because of the availability of education online and education with your stylist on how to recreate the look at home. It's a classic look with a contemporary twist, a longer style that incorporates a taper at the temples and nape of the neck to still maintain that well-groomed look.

With the evolution of hairstyling products and the potential they have for clients to maintain a style, for me, the starting trend to the year will be longer, both classical and casual partings, with slight or strong graduations towards the edges. This look is great to perform as a stylist and bodes very well with clients. Giving the element of contrast, combining textures, tones, strong lines, and soft elements.“

Every year, customers look forward to the newest trends in nail design. Throughout the different seasons, elegant and romantic nail styles have always been a favorite. And it looks like this trend isn't going anywhere soon. Carla Marín, a famous nail stylist from Spain, agrees that it's here to stay

“The nails in trend in 2024 will be very much in line with those of 2023. The glassy effects made with pigments will continue to be very popular. The famous French nail will also become trendy but with short and natural nails, and a very thin line. Nude and pale pink tones, and almond-shaped nails. For 2024 the main trend will be short and natural-looking nails.”

Client-First Philosophy: The Timeless Trend of Superior Service in Beauty

In the dynamic world of beauty, exceptional customer service remains an evergreen trend. A customer who experiences outstanding service is not just a happy one, but also a loyal advocate, likely to revisit and recommend your salon. Remember, high-quality customer service transcends great products or skilled services. It encompasses clear, effective communication and a display of genuine care. Jess Oehler, a U.S.-based waxing expert, underscores the significance of this enduring principle in the beauty industry:

“In 2024, clients will value excellent customer service above all, even if it means paying a bit more for it.

AI Revolution: Transforming the Beauty Industry

Artificial intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing the beauty industry, just as it has in other sectors. This trend is sparking excitement and conversations about how beauty businesses are utilizing AI tools. Salons adopting this technology are finding it especially useful for tasks such as crafting marketing materials and managing social media content. Tools like Canva, which uses AI for graphic design, are already popular. American hairstylist Chrissy Collins observes that this trend will only expand in 2024, further integrating AI into the beauty sector's fabric.

“AI is coming in hot to the hair industry. Like every social media caption is AI generated these days. I do use AI for my business. I use ChatGPT to help write communications and I use Canva.”
